About Us
The Farm emerged from a simple yet powerful idea: to combat food insecurity and empower healthy communities. Volunteers of America of Upstate New York has been providing vital services to the community to promote wellbeing and self-sufficiency for those we serve for over 100 years. The Farm is a natural expansion of the work already being done.
The Farm is more than just a place to grow food. Our programs include workforce development, education, agri-therapy and volunteer opportunities to empower individuals in our community. The Farm is a nurturing space where growth happens, not just in the farm, but in the hearts and minds of those who participate.
The Farm operates out of a compact and efficient vertical hydroponic farm built inside a repurposed shipping container, located in Downtown Rochester. Using the state of the art technology, we are able to grow year-round fresh produce, have minimal water usage, reduced environmental impact, and the ability to grow food in urban areas.
Our food is hyper local, grown without harmful chemicals or pesticides, and supports the local community. Every purchase helps provide produce to people facing food insecurity.
